Beautiful Hand

I took this photo of Matt’s hand for a drawing I’m working on. What feeling and mood it conveys! What a graceful gesture! I love it.

Almost Finished!

I’m so close! I hope to finish this painting tomorrow, but for now, here’s the distiller all finished.

Oil Paint Glazing Colour

Posted on November 3, 2017

I’m just finishing up this painting; I’m glazing in the final layer of colour and adding white/yellow highlights. Sometimes I step back from it and I’m surprised at how realistic it looks.

Coloured Glaze for Skin

Posted on November 3, 2017

Today I painted the final skin layer; I start by mixing yellow ochre and vermilion red with medium and I apply it on the light parts of the skin (I leave underpainting in the shadows). You can see how I started this on the forehead in the second photo. Then I put in additional vermilion into the redder parts of the face, and finally a few highlights withe pure white.

Gold Lamé Dress!

Posted on October 28, 2017

There was a costume sale at a theater in Lake Oswego today and I had to go. I got no painting done but it was totally worth it to discover a gold lamé dress! I have no idea what I will do with this gem but I’m sure it’ll end up in a painting somehow…

Grisaille

My grisaille (grey scale layer) is coming along nicely.
